2025-09-19std: delete SegmentedList againAndrew Kelley
The data structure was originally added in 41e1cd185b82a518c58c92544c45f0348c03ef74 and then removed in 50a336fff899ebd8a687c453ec6beb18a5a9baf9, but brought back in 711bf55eaa643c3d05640bebbf3e4315477b8ed8 for Decl in the compiler frontend, and then the last reference to it was eliminated in 548a087fafeda5b07d2237d5137906b8d07da699 which removed Decl in favor of Nav and Cau.
2024-08-28std: update `std.builtin.Type` fields to follow naming conventionsmlugg
The compiler actually doesn't need any functional changes for this: Sema does reification based on the tag indices of `std.builtin.Type` already! So, no zig1.wasm update is necessary. This change is necessary to disallow name clashes between fields and decls on a type, which is a prerequisite of #9938.
2024-02-26Remove redundant test name prefixes now that test names are fully qualifiedRyan Liptak
Follow up to #19079, which made test names fully qualified. This fixes tests that now-redundant information in their test names. For example here's a fully qualified test name before the changes in this commit: "priority_queue.test.std.PriorityQueue: shrinkAndFree" and the same test's name after the changes in this commit: "priority_queue.test.shrinkAndFree"
2023-10-23x86_64: implement enough to pass unicode testsJacob Young
* implement vector comparison * implement reduce for bool vectors * fix `@memcpy` bug * enable passing std tests
2023-10-22Revert "Revert "Merge pull request #17637 from jacobly0/x86_64-test-std""Jacob Young
This reverts commit 6f0198cadbe29294f2bf3153a27beebd64377566.
2023-10-22Revert "Merge pull request #17637 from jacobly0/x86_64-test-std"Andrew Kelley
This reverts commit 0c99ba1eab63865592bb084feb271cd4e4b0357e, reversing changes made to 5f92b070bf284f1493b1b5d433dd3adde2f46727. This caused a CI failure when it landed in master branch due to a 128-bit `@byteSwap` in std.mem.
2023-10-21x86_64: disable failing tests, enable test-std testingJacob Young
2023-06-24all: migrate code to new cast builtin syntaxmlugg
Most of this migration was performed automatically with `zig fmt`. There were a few exceptions which I had to manually fix: * `@alignCast` and `@addrSpaceCast` cannot be automatically rewritten * `@truncate`'s fixup is incorrect for vectors * Test cases are not formatted, and their error locations change
2023-04-28update codebase to use `@memset` and `@memcpy`Andrew Kelley
2022-12-10behavior: add test coverage for slicing zero length array field of structr00ster91
Closes #11787
2022-12-06remove most conditional compilation based on stage1Andrew Kelley
There are still a few occurrences of "stage1" in the standard library and self-hosted compiler source, however, these instances need a bit more careful inspection to ensure no breakage.
2022-11-29std.mem.Allocator: allow shrink to failAndrew Kelley

2022-04-20stage2: use indexes for Decl objectsAndrew Kelley
Rather than allocating Decl objects with an Allocator, we instead allocate them with a SegmentedList. This provides four advantages: * Stable memory so that one thread can access a Decl object while another thread allocates additional Decl objects from this list. * It allows us to use u32 indexes to reference Decl objects rather than pointers, saving memory in Type, Value, and dependency sets. * Using integers to reference Decl objects rather than pointers makes serialization trivial. * It provides a unique integer to be used for anonymous symbol names, avoiding multi-threaded contention on an atomic counter.
2022-04-20std.SegmentedList: breaking API changesAndrew Kelley
* Remove the Allocator field; instead it must be passed in as a parameter to any function that needs it. * Rename `push` to `append` and `pushMany` to `appendSlice` to match the conventions set by ArrayList.
2022-04-20std: bring back SegmentedListAndrew Kelley
I want to use it for the self-hosted compiler.
2020-11-30move std.SegmentedList to the std-lib-orphanageAndrew Kelley
I spent a long time working on this data structure, and I still think it's a neat idea, but it has no business being in the std lib. I'm aware of the few remaining references to SegmentedList that exist in the std lib, but they are dead code, and so I'm leaving the dead references as a clue that the code is dead. Cleaning up dead code will be a separate effort that involves code coverage tools to make sure we find it all. std-lib-orphanage commit: 2c36a7894c689ecbaf63d5f489bb0c68773410c4 closes #7190
2020-08-20add license header to all std lib filesAndrew Kelley

2020-05-26Add `writeToSlice` method to SegmentedList. (#5405)Walter Mays
2020-01-29Convert a bunch of page_allocator to testing.allocatorBenjamin Feng
2019-12-10Replace @typeOf with @TypeOf in all zig sourceRobin Voetter
This change was mostly made with `zig fmt` and this also modified some whitespace. Note that in some files, `zig fmt` produced incorrect code, so the change was made manually.
2019-11-27remove type coercion from array values to referencesAndrew Kelley
* Implements #3768. This is a sweeping breaking change that requires many (trivial) edits to Zig source code. Array values no longer coerced to slices; however one may use `&` to obtain a reference to an array value, which may then be coerced to a slice. * Adds `IrInstruction::dump`, for debugging purposes. It's useful to call to inspect the instruction when debugging Zig IR. * Fixes bugs with result location semantics. See the new behavior test cases, and compile error test cases. * Fixes bugs with `@typeInfo` not properly resolving const values. * Behavior tests are passing but std lib tests are not yet. There is more work to do before merging this branch.
2019-11-25rename std.heap.direct_allocator to std.heap.page_allocatorAndrew Kelley
std.heap.direct_allocator is still available for now but it is marked deprecated.
2019-11-08update the codebase to use `@as`Andrew Kelley
2019-09-25mv std/ lib/Andrew Kelley
that's all this commit does. further commits will fix cli flags and such. see #2221
